| Main Street under I-5 in Cottage Grove to close for one week |

| 06/02/2008 |
SPRINGFIELD — Contractors for the Oregon Department of Transportation will close Main Street under Interstate 5 in Cottage Grove for seven days beginning Wednesday, June 4, at 9 a.m.
The closure will allow workers to demolish the old northbound I-5 overpass bridge. Signs will direct local drivers to use alternate routes around the work zone.
Contractors will also switch northbound I-5 traffic onto the newly constructed southbound bridge over Main Street on Tuesday, June 3, between 7 p.m. and midnight in preparation for bridge demolition.
Drivers on northbound I-5 can expect brief lane closures through Tuesday night as workers stripe the pavement for the new alignment. Pilot cars will lead traffic onto the new bridge using a rolling slowdown Tuesday night between 7 p.m. and midnight. Southbound I-5 traffic will continue using a temporary detour bridge until northbound traffic can return to the new northbound bridge.
This work is part of a larger project to replace three bridges and repair two bridges on I-5 in Cottage Grove. Drivers should visit www.TripCheck.com or call 511 for current traffic advisories.
