|
| 06/12/2008 |
SPRINGFIELD — A freight truck hauling PVC pipe crashed and rolled over east of Oakridge at milepoint 55 on Highway 58 at about 11:15 a.m., completely blocking the highway.
The noninjury crash occurred about one mile west of the Salt Creek Tunnel.
ODOT crews from Oakridge are enroute with a front-end loader to remove the pipe and other debris from the highway. A tow truck has also been dispatched to clear the wreckage. A hazardous materials team is on the way to the scene to clean up a small amount of diesel leaking from the truck’s fuel tanks.
ODOT personnel on scene estimate they will have one lane of the highway open by approximately 1 p.m., and will begin flagging traffic through in both directions. The pipe and wreckage should be cleared by 2 p.m., when crews will fully reopen the highway.
There is no detour.
