ODOT encourages public comment on Albany-area
Interstate 5 project
ALBANY— Linn and Benton County residents will have a chance this month to learn about and comment on a new project aimed at improving travel and safety along the Interstate 5 corridor.
The Oregon Department of Transportation encourages the public to attend an open house to learn about the I-5 South Jefferson to U.S. 20 project and comment on the scope of the environmental assessment.
Two meetings will be held at the Linn County Fair and Expo Center on Tuesday, January 26 from 12-2 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Community members are encouraged to attend the meeting that is more convenient.
The purpose of the I-5 South Jefferson to U.S. 20 Environmental Assessment project is to improve the efficiency and safety of Interstate 5 and associated interchanges in the Albany-Millersburg area of northern Linn County.
The open house will provide an introduction to this project. It will also provide an opportunity for area residents to meet the project team, and share concerns and ideas for improvements to the freeway and interchanges. The team also welcomes comments on the scope of the environmental assessment, including local resources that should be considered.
According to ODOT Project Leader Amy Ramsdell, “This is an important project for our local communities as well as the regional transportation system. We hope area residents will join us at this open house to share their ideas.”
“Public participation is critical to the success of this project,” she added.
More information is available on the project Web site, www.i5sj20.com.
