New Youngs Bay Bridge to close Wednesday and Thursday nights
ASTORIA— The New Youngs Bay Bridge in Astoria will be closed overnight Wednesday and Thursday to allow ODOT to perform a bridge maintenance operation.
On Wednesday, January 27 and Thursday, January 28 the bridge will be closed between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Motorists will be instructed to detour onto US 101-Business and take Old Youngs Bay Bridge.
ODOT crews will be replacing shim plates at the feet of the bridge. This project will make the road surface more even from the bridge span to the roadway. It will also eliminate some of the bounce noticeable on the bridge when heavy traffic is present.
Built in 1974, New Youngs Bay Bridge carries approximately 14,000 vehicles from Warrenton to Astoria each day.
