Public Encouraged to Attend Transportation Open House
Rockaway Beach— Rockaway Beach residents are invited to attend an open house on February 2 to discuss transportation needs and draft improvement ideas for US 101 and the city’s local transportation system. The meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Rockaway Beach City Hall. Members of the public will talk with City and ODOT representatives about various ideas under consideration for addressing needs and deficiencies in the city.
The project concepts include ways to increase north/south connectivity within the city, safe pedestrian crossings across US 101, parking areas for visitors, opportunities to improve local street crossings of the Port of Tillamook Bay Railroad, and bicycle and pedestrian improvements. This is the first of two public open houses that will be held on the Rockaway Beach Transportation Plan.
Public Transportation Open House
5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2010
Rockaway Beach City Hall, 216 US 101
The Rockaway Beach Transportation Plan focuses on improvements needed to address current and future demand on the state and local transportation system within the city. The project is a long-range (20-year) plan that explores current and future transportation needs, including safety, congestion, and local and regional traffic patterns.
The project is currently in its concept development phase. Project team members are collecting feedback from the community about concepts and soliciting new concepts, before moving into the evaluation phase. A second open house will be scheduled for spring 2010 for the public to comment on draft project recommendations.
