Emergency repairs begin today on
Sardine Creek Bridge on OR22

SALEM— The Oregon Department of Transportation began emergency repairs to the Sardine Creek Bridge today on OR22 (Milepost 40) just east of Big Cliff Dam near Detroit Lake.  The bridge was damaged during heavy rains on January 16-17.  A culvert near the bridge will also be repaired starting next week.

For the next three weeks, motorists should expect periodic lane restrictions between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  However, there should always be at least one-lane open to traffic with flaggers.  Motorists should expect minor delays.   No weekend work is planned.

The heavy rain caused scouring around the bridge piers and bank erosion around the bridge and culvert.   The repairs include bringing in very large rocks to build up and strengthen the bridge and culvert.
