Oversight Team for Salem River Crossing Project to meet Tuesday, March 1

SALEM—An Oversight Team that is considering the Salem River Crossing Project will meet from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1 at Mid Willamette Valley Council of Governments office, 105 High Street S.E.  The meeting is open to the public and includes a public comment period.

The Oversight Team is comprised of elected or appointed officials of local agencies and jurisdictions with regulatory responsibility or strong interest in the project. During the meeting, The Team will review the project progress to date and receive an overview summary of preliminary findings from the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). The group will also discuss project funding and next steps.

The Salem River Crossing Project is being coordinated by the City of Salem and Oregon Department of Transportation to develop solutions for crossing the Willamette River in the Salem-Keizer metropolitan area that meet transportation needs, are compatible with the built and natural environments and have broad community and regional support.  The project will build on results of previous studies and will include development of an environmental impact statement (EIS) and a funding strategy to move any identified solutions toward implementation.
