Lane restrictions planned for US 20 near Eddyville Editors: Note new time for Wednesday’s blast
Eddyville— A construction blast and pre-blast earth excavation will combine for three days of lane restrictions on US 20, near Eddyville this week.
The contractor on the US20-Pioneer Mountain to Eddyville project plans to remove approximately 3,000 cubic yards of earth in a blast planned for Wednesday.
The contractor will also take preventative measures for future blasts by excavating along US 20 on Thursday and Friday.
“We need to remove the earth near the project’s Cut 1 to make sure that future blasts don’t unexpectedly bring that earth down on the highway,” said ODOT Project Manager, Joe Squire.
Motorists will see the following changes to travel along US 20, between milepost 24 and 25, east of Eddyville:
-
Wednesday, April14--8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
The westbound lane will be closed. A pilot car will escort traffic. There will be a short, complete road closure at approximately 9:00 a.m. for a construction blast. Both lanes should be reopen to traffic by 1:00 p.m.
-
Thursday, April 15 and Friday, April 16—7:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
The westbound lane will be closed from 7:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. while the contractor excavates adjacent to the highway. This is a preventative measure for future blasts.
If blasting this week, or at any time during project construction, creates the chance for lengthy traffic delays or highway closures, ODOT will activate variable message signs at key locations to alert drivers to consider alternate routes.
Please use caution when traveling through construction work zones.
