Night closure planned on OR 99E bridge near Harrisburg
Closure scheduled Wednesday night, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
SPRINGFIELD— A contractor for the Oregon Department of Transportation will close the Willamette River Bridge on OR 99E, south of Harrisburg for one night this week in order to make repairs to the bridge.
No traffic will be allowed to cross the bridge Wednesday night, May 12. The closures will be in effect from 6:00 p.m. on that date until 6:00 a.m. Thursday, May 13.
The bridge was damaged Monday, May 3 when a boom truck struck the bridge and resulted in damage to two vertical supports as well as overhead braces.
Traffic is restricted to a single lane across the bridge and no trucks or large motor vehicles weighing more than 10,000 pounds are allowed to cross the bridge.
All trucks and larger motor vehicles are being detoured around the bridge. Flaggers and signs will alert drivers both north and south of the bridge.
-
Southbound trucks will be stopped north of Harrisburg and detoured east and onto Interstate-5.
-
Northbound trucks will be stopped in Junction City and detoured onto OR 99W.
The detours and the lane restriction will remain in place until completion of the repair project, which is currently estimated to be Friday, May 14 at 5:00 p.m.
Motorists should check www.tripcheck.com for the latest road conditions.
