One more night needed to completeI-5 Market Street Interchange ramp work
SALEM--A contractor working for the Oregon Department of Transportation will need one more night to complete grinding and paving the I-5 Market Street Interchange on and off ramps. The ramps will be closed on Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. to complete the work. The ramps have been closed each evening since Sunday.
At least one lane of traffic will remain open along Market Street between Hawthorne Street and Motor Court, and under the I-5 overpass. All business access will remain open. However, the ramps will be closed and motorists traveling on Market Street should expect flagging and some delays.
Variable Message Signs (VMS) have been placed on I-5 ahead of the Mission Street and Chemawa Road interchanges warning motorists of the ramp closures.
Motorists have several alternative routes including the I-5 Mission Street and Chemawa Road interchanges and using Hawthorne (just west of I-5) as a connecting road to Market Street. Southbound motorists on I-5 can also use Portland Road to get off the highway.
Motorists can check www.tripcheck.com for the latest road conditions.
