Astoria-Megler Bridge inspection scheduled July 27-28
ASTORIA—The Oregon Department of Transportation will be conducting a bridge inspection of the high truss section of the Astoria-Megler Bridge on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 27-28 as part of a planned painting project in 2012. Motorists can expect single lane closures and 20-minute delays each day with flaggers between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The bridge inspection is not related to the existing painting project on the northern end of the bridge. ODOT will be using high lifts to carry bridge engineers into the steel sections of the bridge deck so they can provide estimates on the work required in 2012.
ODOT will be placing advance warning signs at locations on both sides of the work zone to alert motorists of expected delays. Motorists can also check www.tripcheck.com for the latest road conditions.
