I-5 paving project to impact ramps and lanes

CORVALLIS — A repaving project on Interstate 5 between Halsey and the Lane County line will result in periodic lane restrictions and ramp closures during construction.

The $9-million ARRA funded project will repave the northbound and southbound lanes and repair guardrail on I-5 between mileposts 203.55 and 216.14.  The ramps to the Oak Grove Rest Area will be repaved as well as the ramps at the Diamond Hill Interchange (Exit 209).

The construction will take place at night.  The current schedule calls for paving to begin in August.  During paving, there will be a single lane of I-5 travel between 6:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., Monday-Thursday and between 7:30 p.m. and 8 a.m., Friday.

Beginning Monday, July 26, temporary, nighttime ramp closures will occur.  The ramps affected will be Harrisburg (milepost 209)   and Halsey (milepost 216).  The first ramp closure will be the southbound on-ramp at the Halsey Interchange (216).  It will be closed from 6:00 pm – 6:30 am.   The ramp closures will have a flagger controlling traffic.   Delays on I-5 are not expected.  Variable Message Signs will alert motorists of closures and restrictions several days in advance of the closures.
