Lane restrictions planned on OR 226, east of Scio

CORVALLIS- The Oregon Department of Transportation will begin a chip seal operation next week on OR 226, approximately three miles east of Scio.

Chip seal is a pavement surface treatment that combines layers of asphalt with layers of fine aggregate.

From 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m., beginning Wednesday, August 11 and continuing through Friday,  August 13, the chip seal operation will result in lane restrictions between milepost 13 and milepost 19.

Motorists will encounter a single lane of travel with flaggers and a pilot car controlling traffic in alternating directions.  Motorists should expect 15-20 minute delays while traveling through the construction area.  The speed limit will be reduced to 25 miles per hour through the construction zone.

Variable message signs will also remind and alert motorists of the project.
