Paving to begin on US 20: Pioneer Mountain to Eddyville project
NOTE: Due an unexpected road closure this week, this project schedule will extend through this weekend.
EDDYVILLE- An important milestone will be reached when paving begins on the US 20: Pioneer Mountain to Eddyville project, Monday, August 23, 2010. Motorists will experience lane restrictions and a short diversion onto temporary gravel roads.
“We will be paving the new alignment on the west end of the project and the east end, where motorists will actually soon drive on about a half-mile section of the new road,” said ODOT Project Manager Joe Squire.
Beginning Monday, August 23 and continuing until Sunday, August 29, motorists will be diverted onto two temporary, gravel roads at milepost 25, near Eddyville. The traffic shift at that location will allow for the tie-in and paving of the new alignment at the east end of the project. Flaggers and a pilot car will control one-way traffic to allow construction trucks and equipment to cross the highway during this operation. Motorists are expected to begin using the new road after paving and striping are complete at the eastern tie-in.
At approximately milepost 16, the paving will occur from the west end of the project to Cougar Creek Bridge. While no paving will occur on US 20 on the west tie-in. flaggers will control one-way traffic to allow construction trucks and equipment to cross the highway.
-
What: Travel on temporary, gravel roads. Controlled, one-way travel at mileposts 16 and 25

The project will make US 20 travel safer and more efficient
The $215-million, U.S. 20: Pioneer Mountain to Eddyville project is creating six miles of new road, building ten new bridges and bypassing a 10 mile section of old U.S. 20. It is scheduled for completion in late 2011.
