Horse team and wagon to be assisted by ODOT
SPRINGFIELD— A self-described horse logger will be traveling through parts Lane County in a horse drawn wagon this week and ODOT wants to alert motorists to expect congestion along the route.
Lee Crafton has been traveling with his 50-foot-long horse team and wagon for several years. He is currently headed toward OR 58 and Willamette Pass, and points east.
As of Monday, November 1, 2010 he plans to travel OR 99 and 7th Avenue in Eugene to Franklin Boulevard. He will then head south on Franklin Boulevard South to an I-5 ramp to OR 58. From there, he expects to arrive in Pleasant Hill tonight.
During the rest of the week, Crafton is expected to travel to Dexter, Oakridge and the entire length of OR 58.
ODOT will provide a portable variable message sign to warn motorists of “congestion ahead” while Crafton travels in Lane County
Although the schedule remains uncertain, ODOT will close the Salt Creek tunnel to motor vehicles when Crafton travels through it.
