ODOT seeks public’s feedback on I-5 improvement options in the Albany and Millersburg area
Linn County residents will have a chance to discuss and comment on draft concepts for I-5 and its interchanges in the Albany-Millersburg area. The I-5 South Jefferson to U.S. 20 project is aimed at improving travel and safety along the Interstate 5 corridor.
The Oregon Department of Transportation encourages the public to attend an open house to learn about and comment on the draft concepts.
Two meetings will be held at the Holiday Inn Express in Albany on Wednesday, November 17th from 11:30-1:30 pm and 6-8 pm. Community members are encouraged to attend whichever time is most convenient.
The purpose of the I-5 South Jefferson to U.S. 20 Environmental Assessment phase is to analyze the potential impacts of proposed improvements of Interstate 5 and associated interchanges in the Albany-Millersburg area of northern Linn County.
The open house will provide an overview of the project and provide opportunities for area residents and business owners to comment on draft concepts for expanding the freeway and improving area interchanges. Proposed improvements include:

Widening I-5 to three lanes in each direction

Closing interchanges at Viewcrest and Murder Creek

Constructing a new Millersburg interchange

Improving the Knox Butte and U.S.20 (Santiam Highway) interchanges

Making changes to adjacent local roads
According to ODOT Project Leader Amy Ramsdell, “We hope area residents and business owners will join us to share their ideas to improve these draft design concepts. This feedback is critical to the success of the project.”
