Siuslaw River Bridge deck inspection to restrict traffic for several hours
FLORENCE — The U.S. 101-Siuslaw River Bridge will be restricted to a single lane of travel for a few hours on Thursday, December 9, 2010 to allow bridge engineers to inspect and evaluate the Fiber Reinforced Polymer deck from beneath the bridge deck.
The work is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. and continue until 2:30 p.m.
Motorists should expect 10-15 minute delays while flaggers control travel across the bridge in alternating directions.
Fiber Reinforced Polymer is a relatively new, light bridge deck material that was installed earlier this summer and engineers want to evaluate its effectiveness for future bridge deck replacement projects.
