Area 5 geographically spans from the crest of the Oregon Cascade Mountain range to the Pacific Ocean and includes all of Lane County. In an ongoing effort to remain sensitive to current and future transportation infrastructure needs within Lane County, Area 5 actively interacts with the following organizations:
- Oregon Transportation Commission
- Lane County Board of County Commissioners
- Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Planning Organization
- Oregon Trucking Association
- Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians
- State and National Forests
- Local City Councils
- 1000 Friends of Oregon
- Friends of Eugene
- Friends of Florence
- University of Oregon
- Local Chambers of Commerce
- Lane County Sheriff’s Department
- Oregon State Police
- Convention & Visitor’s Association of Lane County
- Public Safety & Emergency Responders
Area 5 has responsibility for overseeing project development, design, and construction within Lane County for agency and consultant managed projects

General
- Participate in early planning projects including, but not limited to: corridor planning, IAMP teams and other NEPA type meetings.
- Lead scoping efforts for projects within area and, as needed, “various” region wide projects
- Prepare Prospectus, Schedule and other documents as needed for STIP process
- Provide Project leadership and management services from Scoping through Bid Let, to include management of scope, schedule and budget for assigned projects.
- Provide Construction Project Management from Bid Let through Completion of Construction, to include inspection, contract management and project documentation activities.
- Provide Consultant Project Management from Scoping through Completion of Construction
- Represent ODOT at MPO policy committee
- Represent ODOT at MPC
- Provide interested parties, stakeholders, media, elected officials and the public with information about current and proposed projects as well as the project selection process.
- Represent construction, project leadership, area or regional interests at regional and statewide levels through participation in project specific or disciplinary teams.
