I-5: Exit 40 Kane Creek Fish Passage

Construction is underway on the Kane Creek culvert PileDrivingCropped.jpg

Four days of pile driving are complete, the first stage of the Kane Creek culvert project.

Carter and Company of Salem finished the first stage of the project on time. The needed work drove pile for a new bridge. Work in the area won’t begin again in earnest until the bridge components are made and returned for assembly in July.

Project Location
The access road between Interstate 5 Exit 40 (Gold Hill) and Old Stage Road.

Project Schedule
Now through the first part of August

What is ODOT going to do?
The culvert running under Old Stage Road is deteriorating, which will eventually affect the roadway. It will be replaced with a bridge, using an expedited bridge construction method.

KC1ditch.jpgConstruction Impacts
The contractor has completed the first closure over four days in April. Now, it’s onto the other phases:

•    Between the April and July closures, the road will be open, but active roadway/bridge construction will be on hiatus until the bridge components –specific to the measurements taken after the pile driving – are manufactured. There will be work after June 15 in the stream area.

•    After the July 4 Holiday, a 10 day full closure of the connector road will be in place for bridge construction, along with paving the bridge and adjacent roadway. During this phase both I-5 southbound ramps will be closed to hasten bridge construction.
