Seven Oaks (Blackwell Road) Interchange
Project Information
Bridge replacement, safety upgrades underway
New completion date: Summer 2010

Final paving has begun and construction crews are expected to finish this project at Blackwell Road and the Interstate 5-Seven Oaks (Exit 35) interchange north of Central Point by this summer. When complete, the contractor will be nearly two years behind schedule. All that is left is the final interstate paving and tying interstate traffic onto the new CORP railroad bridges.

The $31 million project improves the Seven Oaks or Blackwell Road interchange, and replaces the two interstate bridges over the Central Oregon and Pacific Railroad. The contract end date was October 2008.

The old Blackwell Road overpass was functionally obsolete and traffic volumes are growing in the area. While the interchange remains fairly rural in nature, it is attracting more traffic, especially freight and aggregate trucks.

In addition to building a new Blackwell Road overpass, the project will modify the southbound off-ramp. The configuration allows traffic to go beneath the overpass and loop back toward Rogue Valley Highway (Oregon Highway 99), where the connection will be signalized. Motorists bound for White City and Oregon Highway 140 would then turn right.
