Highway 62 Corridor Project
Discarded Alternatives

Highway 62 Corridor- Discarded Alternatives

The Citizens Advisory Committee and the Project Development Team have discarded the following concepts for the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)

These concepts do not show a higher level of design such as connections to driveways or local streets, which will come later in the development process.

Existing Concept- [View] This concept makes the existing Highway 62 a limited access roadway, with interchanges or access points at the south end, Vilas Road, and the north end near White City. Access to the commercial and business areas would be provided by access roads, such as Crater Lake Avenue. [Southern Terminus]

Texas Turnaround Concept- [View] This concept is taken from similar roadways in Texas, hence its name. It provides for a wide cross section of roadway, with an access controlled Highway 62 in the center. One way frontage roads would parallel the highway on each side with exits and overpasses to the other side at select locations. [Southern Terminus]

Couplet Concept- [View] This concept provides for one way traffic on each major roadway. For instance, the existing Highway 62 would become one way to White City. Inbound traffic to Medford would use a newly constructed roadway near the existing old Medco Haul Road. At grade intersections would allow access to commercial and business areas.
