Highway 62 Corridor Project
News Release Sept 27th, 04

HIGHWAY 62 CORRIDOR OPEN HOUSE PLANNED OCT. 4

WHITE CITY—The public is invited to attend an open house for the Highway 62 Corridor project from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4 at the Rogue Family Center, 3131 Avenue C, in White City.

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is searching for transportation alternatives to improve congestion and safety issues on the Oregon Highway 62 corridor from Poplar Drive in Medford to White City. The event features information booths with staff available to answer questions.

A process to find feasible alternatives as part of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), scheduled for completion in the summer 2006, began in August. The EIS encompasses the corridor and complements improvements currently under construction at the north Medford interchange.

Teams looked at corridor improvements early in the development of the current North Medford Interchange project. Due to funding constraints, recent case law and changes to Federal Highway Administration policy, work on a corridor design was shelved in 2000.

The Highway 62 Corridor project has a Citizens Advisory Committee and Project Development Team. The groups meet on the fourth Wednesday and Thursday of the month, respectfully. Both meetings are open to the public.

The new project Web site includes an overview, timeline and contact information.
Accommodations will be provided to persons with disabilities. Alternate formats are available upon request. If a sign language interpreter is needed, please call ODOT Public Information Specialist Gary Leaming (541) 774-6388 at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
