Oregon 62 - Owen and Coker Butte Project
Project Information
The City of Medford plans to construct the Crater Lake Avenue Realignment Project in northeast Medford this summer.  Construction is expected to extend into the Summer of 2011.  This project may affect your access to either Highway 62 or Crater Lake Avenue.

This $11.2 million project will improve traffic flow and safety on both the state highway and the avenue.  Construction will include the following:
  • Move the Cardinal Ave. traffic signal south to the improved Owen Drive which will become a four way intersection
  • As a result, the intersection of Cardinal and Highway 62 will be restricted to right turns only.
  • Improve Crater Lake Avenue by moving it farther back from the highway at both Owen Drive and the new four-way Coker Butte intersection. This will improve the safety of the intersections by removing the frequent conflicts that arise because the two intersections are too close to one another.
  • Realign and construct 1100 feet of Crater Lake Avenue south of Owen Drive.
  • Complete realignment and construct 500 feet of Crater Lake Avenue north of Owen Drive.
  • Construct 800 feet of Owen Drive from Tower Business Park Subdivision east to Pearwood Subdivision./ODOT/HWY/REGION3/PublishingImages/h62/coker-ol-2.gif
  • Relocate Coker Butte Road (major arterial) 750 feet east of the intersection with Hwy 62.
  • Realign and construct 1700 feet of Crater Lake Avenue south of the newly extended Coker Butte Road.
  • Realign and construct 1600 feet of Crater Lake Avenue north of the newly extended Coker Butte Road.
  • Close the existing Webfoot and old Coker Butte Road intersections at Highway 62.
These changes will also improve north-south connectivity in east Medford by connecting Springbrook Road to Owen Drive, north of Delta Waters Road. For your convenience, we’ve enclosed two drawings illustrating the improved project footprint. They can also be viewed at the City of Medford website (http://www.ci.medford.or.us/) on the Public Works Department homepage.
