The two bridges that were replaced are located on US 26, less than one mile west of the town of Mitchell in Wheeler County, Oregon.
The project also repaved approximately 25 miles of US 26 between Rush Creek and Antone.

The bridges are aging and worn to the point that they needs to be replaced with new structures built to modern standards.
The cost to replace these bridge is $4.0 million, and is being funded by the Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA).
The section of US 26 beteen Rush Creek and Antone is deteriorating and in need of new surfacing. Portions of the highway will be ground out and then filled with an asphast inlay. Other sections will receive an asphalt overlay only.
The repaving will cost approximately $7.0 million and is primarily being funded by a combination of federal and state gas tax revenues.

| Traffic Changes During Construction |
|
- The bridges will be replaced with traffic using a detour route on a county road that bypasses the work zone. Measurable delays are not anticipated.
- Traffic will be detoured for approximately 6 months each year, spanning the in-water work period.
- There are no load limits for the detour route.
- Access to two businesses, Route 26 Espresso and Cannon’s Tire Center, will remain open during construction.
