The Oregon Department of Transportation and the City of Redmond invite the community to join them as they formally break ground on the Glacier-Highland Couplet project on Wednesday, February 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sam Johnson Park Pavilion in Redmond. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early or stay a little late to enjoy refreshments provided by the City of Redmond.

The completion of the new Highland-Glacier Couplet will correct traffic snarls and heavy congestion that have become a daily occurrence on Highland Avenue (OR126). In the future, Glacier and Highland Streets will become an integral piece of the state highway system.  Westbound traffic will use Glacier and Highland will facilitate vehicles moving eastbound on Oregon Highway 126 – eliminating the serious clogging we see today on the highway.

In addition to projects designed to ease traffic conditions, ODOT and the City of Redmond are planning several beautification projects in the area to enhance community livability in Redmond. New landscaping strips and wider sidewalks, a new pedestrian under-crossing, ornamental street lighting, and added crosswalks are just a few of the improvements to come.
