Community Invited to Attend Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting

The Oregon Department of Transportation invites the public to a Citizens Advisory Committee meeting to gather and share information regarding the US 97: O’Neil Highway to Deschutes Market Junction Refinement Plan. The meeting will be held on Dec. 6 at 6:00 p.m. in the Ochoco Room at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds in Redmond.

ODOT representatives will explain the purpose of the study and give an update that includes transportation alternatives for the future of this corridor. Attendees will be encouraged to provide comments and suggestions about the current proposals and to share their goals for the refinement study.

About the US97: O’Neil Highway to Deschutes Market Junction Refinement Plan
The US97: O’Neil Highway to Deschutes Market Junction Refinement Plan will identify potential highway improvements that will be implemented within the next 20 to 25 years. The two-phase refinement plan will identify future highway improvements for US 97 between the junction of US 97 and Highway 370 (the O’Neil Highway), and the Deschutes Market Road Junction.

During Phase 1, teams will evaluate and identify improvements to US 97 to ensure the system can handle additional traffic as the population grows and traffic increases on the highway.

The initial focus of Phase 1 is an evaluation of highway improvement options from the junction
of the US 97 and the O’Neil Highway to the south end of Redmond’s Urban Growth Boundary.
Four options are currently being evaluated in Phase 1:

1. No Build (No capacity improvements)
2. Upgrade US 97 on the Existing Alignment
3. Extension of US 97 Reroute
4. US 97 By-pass of Redmond

Additional options may be identified during the refinement planning and public involvement process.

Phase 2 of the US97: O’Neil Highway to Deschutes Market Junction Refinement Plan will focus on the southern portion of the study area. This area of US 97 begins at the south end of the Urban Growth Boundary to the Deschutes Market Junction.
