Prineville: Crooked River Bridge Construction Kick-off
The community is invited to join the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) at a meeting to celebrate the start of construction for the OR 126 Crooked River Bridge & US 26 Signal at Harwood Street project in Prineville. The meeting is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 in the council chambers at Prineville City Hall, 400 NE Third St.
During the meeting, members of ODOT’s project team will give an overview of the project, describe how the bridge and signal will be built, and provide a preliminary schedule of construction events. Construction is expected to begin in late March.
The existing two-lane Crooked River Bridge, which has weight restrictions, will be replaced with structure capable of handling four-lanes of traffic in the future. The connection to O’Neil Highway, at the northwest end of the bridge, will be improved for truck-turning movements. The project will include sidewalks, retaining walls and the installation of ornamental lights and rails on the bridge.
In addition, safety and capacity will be increased at the US 26 and Harwood Street intersection. Improvements include installing a traffic signal, ADA ramps, crosswalk striping and the relocation of overhead utility lines.
The project is scheduled to be completed during the summer of 2007.
JAL Construction Inc. was awarded this $3.7 million construction project.
