Time Change for COFFEE WITH ODOT IN SUNRIVER

The community is encouraged to join Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) team members for “Coffee with ODOT” on Thursday, Oct. 5, at  the Sunriver Chamber of Commerce in Sunriver. The coffee will be from 4 to 6 p.m. this month. Those working on the project will be available to give an update about the upcoming closure of S. Century Drive at US 97. Residents are encouraged to bring questions, comments and concerns and kudos regarding the US 97 at South Century Drive Interchange project.

"Coffee with ODOT" will return to the regular 9 to 10 a.m. meeting in November. It is offered the first Thursday of every month.

South Century Drive, at the intersection of US 97, will be closed from 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9 though 5 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 as part of ODOT's interchange construction project in the area. During the closure, access to Sunriver and South Century Drive will be by Vandevert Road, located to the south on US 97. Highway traffic will not be affected during the closure.

When the closure begins, US 97 traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed northbound lanes. The closure will allow crews to construct a new, temporary intersection with South Century Drive, located 700 feet north of the existing access. This at-grade intersection will be used through the summer of 2007, when the interchange is open to drivers.

About the Project

The contractor, Hap Taylor & Sons, is working to build an interchange at the current intersection of US 97 and South Century Drive. Once completed, the new interchange will provide safer, more convenient traffic flow to and from the Sunriver area and to recreational opportunities in southern Deschutes County.

NOTE: The Sunriver Chamber of Commerce is located at 57100 Beaver Drive, Building 5, Suite 120.
