Public meeting scheduled for US 97 & US 20 Refinement Plan

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is seeking input from the public on the future of the US 97 and US 20 corridors at the north end of Bend. An open house is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 in the Skyview Middle School cafeteria, 63555 NE 18th St., Bend.

The study is intended to develop a long-term plan for the design of both roads, as well as how local travel on the surrounding streets will circulate and tie into the highways. The ultimate recommendations from the study will be amended into the City of Bend, Deschutes County and state transportation plans.

During the past year, the public has helped develop options for the type and location of improvements in the study area. These ideas have been consolidated into four alternatives, which can be viewed at http://projects.kittelson.com/US97_US20/alternatives/index.html.

Community members are invited to attend the meeting to learn about each concept, such as traffic flow, safety, property access and cost. Feedback from this meeting will be used to develop a “preferred” long-term vision of the US 97 and US 20 corridors.

For more information about the US 97 & US 20 Refinement Plan, contact Peter Russell, senior ODOT planner, at 541-388-6046 or peter.l.russell@odot.state.or.us.
