The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) invites the public to an Open House to gather and share information concerning the future of the U.S. 97 and U.S. 20 corridors at the north end of Bend. The meeting will be held on February 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Sky View Middle School Commons. ODOT representatives will give a short presentation followed by a work session with attendees.
During the small-group work session portion of this open house, community members will be asked to share ideas and suggestions and develop alternatives for the future of the U.S. 97 and U.S. 20 Refinement Plan area.
About the U.S. 97 and U.S. 20 Refinement Plan
The goal of the U.S. 97 and U.S. 20 Refinement Plan is to develop a 20-year plan to manage traffic growth between Empire Boulevard and Deschutes Market Road on U.S. 97 and Empire and Old Bend-Redmond Highway on U.S. 20. Team members will identify strategies for future access to U.S. 97 and U.S. 20, identify potential locations for one or more grade-separated interchanges in the study area, determine how local traffic will circulate, and what improvements will be necessary to the city or county road system.
The final study recommendations will be amended into the City of Bend, Deschutes County, and Oregon State Transportation plans.
Note: Sky View Middle School is located at 63555 NE 18th Avenue in Bend.
