TRAFFIC Switch – US97 Redmond

For more information contact Julianne Repman (541) 388-6224

Motorists traveling through Redmond on US97 near Fred Meyer will be shifted to temporary detour lanes on February 2 at 11:00 a.m. to facilitate piping a portion of the Central Oregon Irrigation District (COID) Canal, weather permitting.  Crews will be doing detour preparation work in the area from 9:00 a.m. through 11:00 a.m. February 2.

J W Fowler Construction crews are currently working to build the temporary detour lanes to the west of the existing US97 alignment.  Crews will use the closure period to pipe a section of the Central Oregon Irrigation District (COID) canal and remove the US97 Pilot Butte Canal Bridge located between US97 and South Canal Boulevard, near the Fred Meyer entrance. Crews will perform canal-piping work during daylight hours. Some night and weekend work may be possible. The posted speed through this construction area will be reduced to 25 mph from 45 mph. This 25 mph construction zone speed limit will be strictly enforced.

Once the canal piping work is completed, traffic will be returned to the existing US97 and the temporary detour will be removed.

The COID canal is being piped from a point south of the Fred Meyer store to a point near Dogwood Avenue. Crews are working to pipe the canal from north to south in order to accommodate monthly stock runs in the canal.  This canal piping project is anticipated to be completed by late March.
