The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) will give a Willow Creek Bridge Replacement project update to the Madras City Council on Tuesday, February 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the Madras City Council Chambers in Madras. ODOT representatives will be available to answer questions during this time. Community members are encouraged to attend this meeting.

About the North “Y” Project
Hap Taylor and Sons Construction crews anticipate beginning the first stage of the project, which is replacement of the northbound segment of the U.S. 26/U.S. 97 Willow Creek Bridge, in mid-February. This 82-year-old bridge is identified in the Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA) http://egov.oregon.gov/ODOT/HWY/OTIA/ Stage One Cracked Bridge needs list.  This bridge is being replaced to ensure trucks with loads of all sizes and weights can continue carrying goods through Central Oregon, and other parts of the Northwest.  The southbound Willow Creek Bridge structure is not in need of replacement at this time

Hap Taylor will continue on to other stages of the project later this Spring and Summer, such as reconfiguring and signalizing the North “Y” (intersection of U.S. 26 and U.S. 97), and repaving US 26 north of the “Y” to the top of the grade (matching into the current railroad bridge replacement).  North “Y” improvements also include other safety and pedestrian enhancements consistent with the City of Madras’ Transportation System Plan.

Note: The Madras City Council Chambers are located at 71 SE D Street in Madras.
