The Oregon Department of Transportation invites the public to an open house to gather and share information regarding the OR. 126 Crooked River Bridge and the U.S. 26 signal at Harwood Street projects in Prineville. The meeting will be held on February 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Prineville City Hall in Prineville. ODOT representatives will be available to discuss proposed project, the project schedule, and share artist renderings of the proposed bridge.
About the Project
Work to replace the Crooked River Bridge in Prineville is slated to begin during winter, 2005. The bridge became a top candidate for replacement based on local freight need and usage.
The proposed improvements include replacement of the existing two-lane Crooked River Bridge with a structure capable of handling up to four lanes of traffic, installation of sidewalks on the bridge to facilitate access to the nearby State Park trail head, installation of retaining walls adjacent to the canal to avoid environmental impacts, and the potential installation of ornamental lighting and rails on the bridge.
In addition to the new bridge, a traffic signal, ADA ramps, and crosswalk striping will be installed at the intersection of U.S. 26 and Harwood Street creating increased capacity and safety in the area.
Note: Prineville City Hall is located at 400 NE Third Street in Prineville.
