Wildish Standard Paving Company anticipates breaking ground on the Crescent Connection Bridge Replacement project, during the week of February 28.  This bridge is located one-half mile north of Gilchrist on U.S. 97 at milepost 183.  Crews anticipate working Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. with intermittent night and weekend work possible. Motorists can expect delays of less than 5 minutes when traveling through this work zone.

Crescent Connection Overcrossing Bridge Replacement
This bridge replacement project will occur in two phases. During the first phase, crews will construct temporary detour lanes to the west of the existing bridge. Traffic is expected to be re-routed to the new, temporary detour lanes in April. Once traffic has shifted, crews will replace the existing bridge with a new, wider structure.  Wildish anticipates opening the new bridge to motorists in June 2005.

The $855,000 Crescent Connection Bridge Replacement project is funded by the Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA) <http://www.odot.state.or.us/otia/otia3index.htm>. The OTIA III State Bridge Delivery Program is part of the Oregon Department of Transportation's 10-year, $3 billion OTIA program. During the next decade, OTIA will repair or replace hundreds of bridges, pave and maintain city and county roads, improve and expand interchanges, add new capacity to Oregon's highway system, and remove freight bottlenecks statewide. About 18 family-wage jobs are sustained for every $1 million spent on transportation construction in Oregon. Each year during the OTIA program, construction projects will sustain about 5,000 family-wage jobs.
