For more information contact Julianne Repman (541) 388-6224

Wildish Standard Paving Company will shift northbound traffic to two, newly constructed lanes northbound lanes at the U.S. 97 Pilot Butte Canal Bridge Replacement Project during the week of March 28, weather permitting.  This traffic switch will take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.  During the traffic switch, contractor crews may reduce traffic from four- to two-lanes with flaggers controlling motorist movements. Southbound traffic was switched to new southbound lanes on Monday, March 14.

About the Pilot Butte Canal Bridge Replacement
The Pilot Butte Canal Bridge Replacement Project is located on U.S. 97 at milepost 129.7, five miles north of Bend. Crews replaced the existing bridge over the Pilot Butte Canal with a new subsurface pipe/culvert. Once the traffic switch is complete, crews will work to remove the temporary highway detour lanes and wrap up work in the area. This bridge replacement project is expected to be completed in April.

This project, is part of a $30.5 million contract awarded to Wildish Standard Paving to replace 11 bridges on U.S. 26, U.S. 97 and Oregon 224 and is funded by the Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA) http://www.odot.state.or.us/otia/otia3index.htm. The OTIA III State Bridge Delivery Program is part of the Oregon Department of Transportation's 10-year, $3 billion Oregon Transportation Investment Act program. During the next decade, OTIA will repair or replace hundreds of bridges, pave and maintain city and county roads, improve and expand interchanges, add new capacity to Oregon's highway system, and remove freight bottlenecks statewide. About 18 family-wage jobs are sustained for every $1 million spent on transportation construction in Oregon. Each year during the OTIA program, construction projects will sustain about 5,000 family-wage jobs.
