Madras office hours will change temporarily
The Madras DMV office will change its hours of business temporarily because of a staffing shortage, DMV officials announced.
Starting Monday, April 3, the office will be open from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Customers who need to take the DMV knowledge test need to have their number called at least one hour before closing time. But they do not need to make an appointment for the knowledge test. Appointments are required for drive tests, but no drive tests can be given Thursday, April 6, because a drive test examiner will not be available.
The office, located at 249 SW Third St. in Madras, will return to its normal hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. once a new staff member is hired and trained.
Before visiting a field office, customers can check www.OregonDMV.com to prepare for their visit by downloading, printing and filling out a form before going. Customers also can renew most passenger vehicles online, as well as report a change of address or the sale of their car.
Also, remember to bring enough cash or your check book because DMV cannot accept debit or credit cards. However, the Madras has a cash machine, but it charges a transaction fee.
