OR 242: Temporary Closure to Ensure Motorist Safety
Highway closed 12 miles west of Sisters due to fire burning in the area
Due to a forest fire, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has closed OR 242, the Old McKenzie Highway, between mile points 76 and 84, 12 miles west of Sisters. This highway closure will help to ensure safety for the public and fire personnel working in the area.
The closure is in place between the west snow gate and the Lane/Deschutes county line. The closure area includes Dee Wright Observatory.
