Redmond Reroute Phase 1 Unit 1A complete

Phase 1 Unit 1A of the US 97 Redmond Reroute is complete and open to the public for use.
Work to improve three city streets began on March 7 and finished on August 5. This part of the project extended NW Seventh, NE Second and NE Ninth streets to allow local road alternatives during the construction of the Maple-Negus Bridge this fall. Construction on the main section of the highway reroute begins next year. These roadway improvements will create improved traffic circulation through, and around, Redmond for years to come.

Phase 1 Unit 1A Highlights:
· Seventh Street has been extended by 885 feet to connect Spruce Avenue with Quince Avenue.
· Second Street has relocated to the north and now connects to North Canal Boulevard via a bridge over the Central Oregon Irrigation District Main Canal.
· Ninth Street has been extended from Hemlock Avenue north to Negus Avenue.

The next phase of the project, Phase 1 Unit 1B, construction of the Maple-Negus Bridge, begins this fall. Once complete, the Maple-Negus Bridge will span the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks, the future US 97 Reroute, the Pilot Butte Canal and North Canal Boulevard.

About the US 97 Reroute Project
The US 97 Reroute will create a new, less congested north-south travel option for residents and visitors of Redmond. It will also get truck traffic out of downtown and give business the opportunity to attract shoppers to a quieter, more pleasant area. The project is anticipated to be finished in 2008.
