OR 39: Open house to share plans for Henley
The community is invited to attend an open house to hear about a proposal to improve safety on OR 39, near the Henley Schools, southeast of Klamath Falls. The meeting is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10 in the cafeteria of Henley High School, 8245 Highway 39, Klamath Falls.
Oregon Department of Transportation employees will present the project plan that includes developing Virginia Street for residents in the area, which will help improve safety in front of the schools.
A public meeting in January focused on the other part of this project, which is to upgrade the signal at the intersection of OR 39/OR 140 East. This project will address increasing sight distance, providing pedestrian crossings and creating curbed center islands. A meeting for this section of the project will be scheduled this fall.
The entire project is in the preliminary stages and no construction date has been set.
Representatives from the Oregon Department of Transportation will be available during the meeting to provide information about the proposed project. The public is encouraged to come, ask questions, and provide comments and suggestions.
