U.S. 97 Reroute Project Ground Breaking
Public Invited to Attend Event
The Oregon Department of Transportation and the City of Redmond invite the community to join them as they formally break ground on the U.S. 97 Reroute Project on October 15 at 11:00 a.m. in Redmond.
Attendees are encouraged to park in the southeast corner of the Fred Meyer parking lot and walk to the ceremonial site with fellow residents and state and local officials. The event will take place along U.S. 97 and the canal, adjacent to the Fred Meyer store. Plan to arrive early or stay a little late to enjoy refreshments provided by the City of Redmond.
Thanks to partnerships between the Oregon Department of Transportation, City of Redmond and Central Oregon Irrigation District (COID) this tremendous project will get underway in mid-October with the piping of the COID canal. Phase One Unit 1 of the U.S. 97 Reroute project, building the Maple-Negus Bridge and the extension of several city streets, is expected to begin in early 2005. Phase One Unit 2, completing the mainline highway section of the realignment, is expected to begin in late 2005. The new alignment is expected to be open to motorists in 2007.
