ODOT ADDS NEW CAMERA WEST OF BURNS

The Oregon Department of Transportation added a new camera to www.tripcheck.com today. Travelers can now check road conditions in eastern Oregon via a new web-camera at the junction of US 20 and ORE 395. The new Riley Junction camera gives travelers a birds-eye view of US 20 at mile point 104.50, 4219 feet above sea level.

View the camera at http://www.tripcheck.com/RoadCams/roadcams.htm by clicking the camera icon located just west of Burns.

The installation of the new camera comes on the heels of the winter driving season. Commuters can add the new camera to their Custom Cam page, allowing them to check routes at-a-glance before departing for home or work.

Site users can check statewide cameras for a snapshot of weather conditions, scan regional winter travel and national weather reports, and view data provided by roadside weather stations, such as temperature, wind speed and precipitation readings.

TripCheck features more than 150 traffic cameras that give users near-real time views of travel and weather conditions, location, elevation and camera direction for most images. TripCheck maps detail present road conditions and spots to avoid - including road construction, maintenance work and traffic incidents.
