Bridge work to close one lane of
I-84 east of The Dalles from Oct. 26-28

Contractors for the Oregon Department of Transportation plan to close one lane of I-84 near The Dalles Dam to drill test holes at the Fifteenmile Creek Bridge starting Wed., Oct. 26.

The right-hand lane of I-84 in only one direction will be closed during the drilling work from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Drilling will start on eastbound I-84 at milepost 88 on Wed., Oct. 26, and finish on westbound I‑84 on Fri., Oct. 28.

Drivers should slow down in the work zone and watch for drilling equipment and workers in the right-hand lane.

The drilling work is funded by the OTIA III State Bridge Delivery Program, which is part of the Oregon Department of Transportation's 10-year, $3 billion Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA) program. OTIA funds will repair or replace hundreds of bridges, pave and maintain city and county roads, improve and expand interchanges, add new capacity to Oregon's highway system, and remove freight bottlenecks statewide. About 18 family-wage jobs are sustained for every $1 million spent on transportation construction in Oregon. Each year during the OTIA program, construction projects will sustain about 5,000 family-wage jobs.
