Central Oregon Road Construction
UPDATE: Week of November 1st
The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT is continuing to invest in Oregon’s future with roadway improvement projects throughout Oregon’s central region (ODOT Region 4). ODOT is committed to providing safe, efficient transportations systems. The following projects reflect ODOT’s commitment to make improvements as traffic numbers rise and to make the roadways safer and more efficient for drivers:
DESCHUTES COUNTY
O´Neil Highway, MP 0.0 - 18, North of Redmond
Crews will not be working on the O’Neil Highway Project this week. Work to install guardrail is expected to resume in mid-November.
North Canal Boulevard at Antler Avenue, Redmond
Construction crews from James W. Fowler, Inc. closed North Canal Boulevard permanently at Antler Avenue on Monday, October 4 to facilitate the piping portions of Central Oregon Irrigation District’s (COID) Pilot Butte canal. Crews will perform canal-piping work during daylight hours, Monday through Friday. The project is expected to be completed by March 31, 2005. Variable Message Signs and traditional construction signage will alert motorists of the closure and advise the use of alternate travel routes. Travelers are encouraged to slow down and use caution when approaching this intersection.
U.S. 97 (The Dalles – California Highway), MP 129.77 – 129.68, between Bend & Redmond near Deschutes Market Road
Wildish Standard Paving Company is working to replace the Pilot Butte Canal Bridge, located north of Bend near Deschutes Market Road. Crews will be surveying and installing temporary signing in the work zone this week. Traffic has shifted to the west side of the highway to facilitate construction of the new bridge structure. The construction speed is 45 miles-per-hour. Daytime traffic is not expected to be delayed during this construction project. Motorists traveling between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. may encounter traffic reduced to one lane in each direction.
JEFFERSON COUNTY
U.S. 97 (The Dalles – California Highway), MP 105.4 - 109.03, South of Madras
Wildish Standard Paving Company is working to replace the Ochoco Canal Bridges, south of Madras. Crews will be clearing trees and shrubs, surveying, excavating and installing base rock for the new detour in the work zone this week.
These two bridges are located 12 and 16 miles south of Madras on U.S. 97 at mileposts 105.4 and 108.9. Crews anticipate working Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. with intermittent night and weekend work possible. Motorists can expect delays of less than 5 minutes when traveling through this work zone.
KLAMATH COUNTY
US 97 (The Dalles – California Highway), MP 275, Klamath Falls
Crews from Hamilton Construction Company will begin replacing the US 97 Bridge over Green Springs Drive this week. Beginning Monday, November 1, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction near MP 275 .Flaggers will provide traffic control as needed.
OR 140 (Lake of the Woods Highway), MP 50.81 - 57.06, at Doak Mountain, West of Klamath Falls
Contractor crews are excavating and performing embankment work. Flaggers will provide traffic control as needed. Motorists can expect up to 20-minute delays when traveling through this area.
OR 66 (Greensprings Highway), MP 49.96 - MP 59.05 &
Hwy 424 (South Klamath Falls Highway), MP 0.0 - MP 0.72 &
Orindale Road at Junction of OR 66 and Hwy 140, West of Klamath Falls
Contractor crews are paving, excavating and performing embankment work in this area. Flaggers are providing traffic control. Motorists can expect 20-minute delays when traveling through this work zone. Orindale Road will be closed at Highway 140 this week.
US 97 (Dalles - California Highway), MP 200.3 - 202.3, North of Chemult
JAL Construction crews will be doing embankment work on the highway shoulders this week. Contractor crews anticipate working Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. on the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Bridge Replacement Project and Passing Lanes Project in Chemult. Occasional weekend and evening work is possible. Flaggers will control motorist movements as trucks enter and exit the highway. Expect intermittent delays.
WASCO COUNTY
Highway 293 (Antelope Highway), MP 0 – 9, Willowdale to Antelope
Crews are performing bridge replacement work at Antelope Creek Bridge (MP 1.0). Traffic is reduced to one lane under a stop sign controlled, self-regulating lane closure at the Antelope Creek Bridge at MP 1.0. Crews are also working at the Indian Creek Bridge (MP 8.86) this week. Some motorist movements will be controlled by flaggers. Motorists can expect delays of less than 20-minutes when traveling through the area. This project is scheduled to be completed in December.
RECENTLY COMPLETED PROJECTS
Interstate 84, MP 55 –72, between Hood River and Mosier (Wasco & Hood River Counties)
Crews have completed work on I-84 between Hood River and The Dalles. Crews will be doing general project clean up and sign installation this week.
US 97, (The Dalles – California Highway) MP 150.8 - 169.89 &
Hwy 31 (Freemont Highway) MP 0 – 13, South of LaPine
Work to replace 19 miles of pavement on US 97 between Cottonwood Junction and Freemont Junction and 13 miles of pavement on Oregon 31 is now complete. Crews will be doing general project clean up this week.
US 97 (The Dalles – California Highway) at Vandevert Road, South of Sunriver
The Oregon Department of Transportation has widened and added a new left-turn lane to a ¾-mile section of US 97 at Vandevert Road.
Highway 26 (Warm Springs Highway) MP 87 – 90, North of Warm Springs
Crews have completed construction of the Badger Creek - Sidwalter Road Passing Lane construction project located on Highway 26 (The Warm Springs Highway), north of the community of Warm Springs. Permanent striping is expected to be installed by October 29.
