The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is continuing to invest in Oregon’s future with roadway improvement projects throughout Oregon’s central region (ODOT Region 4). ODOT is committed to providing safe, efficient transportations systems. The following projects reflect ODOT’s commitment to make improvements as traffic numbers rise and to make the roadways safer and more efficient for drivers:
 
CROOK COUNTY
OR 26 (Ochoco Highway), MP 20-34
, Laughlin Road to Marks Creek, east of Prineville
This project is complete.
 
DESCHUTES COUNTY
OR 126 (McKenzie Highway), MP 111
, Redmond
Crews will be onsite, starting Sunday, Nov. 20, preparing for a major traffic change in the area. The new signals on Glacier Avenue, at Sixth, Ninth and 11th Street will be turned on.  Throughout the day and night, workers will prepare for the switch by restriping sections of the highway, removing the stop signs on Glacier Avenue and placing new directional signs.
 
By Monday, Nov. 21, motorists going westbound on OR 126 will use the improved Glacier Avenue and those traveling eastbound will use Highland Avenue. In addition, Ninth Street will be one way northbound and 11th Street will be one way southbound. Both one-ways are between Highland and Forest Avenues.
 
Starting Monday, Nov. 21, the contractor will begin installing the city of Redmond’s waterline along the north side of Highland Avenue. The work will start at 14th Street and move east.
 
US 20 (Greenwood Avenue), MP 0.51 To 1.11, Bend
Night work on the signal at the intersections of Greenwood Avenue with Third Street is scheduled to be finished up the week of Nov. 21, weather permitting. Expect delays of less than 10 minutes.
US 97 (The Dalles – California Highway), MP 113.9, north of Terrebonne
US 97, shoulder, 10th Street and Ditch Rider Road paving is planned for the week of Nov. 21, weather permitting. Intermittent delays are possible. Flaggers will control access to 10th Street and Ditch Rider Road during the paving operations. Work will occur from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The old bridge structure is scheduled to be demolished in November.
 
Wimp Way at US 97 in Terrebonne is temporarily closed to through traffic to facilitate replacement of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad Bridge and to ensure motorist safety during construction at this intersection. 
 
This bridge is located about one mile north of Terrebonne on US 97 at milepost 113.9.  During the first phase of construction, crews will construct a new, two-lane bridge with 10-foot shoulders to the west of the existing bridge. Traffic will remain on the existing bridge during construction.  Motorists will be routed to the new bridge in fall 2005.  Following this traffic switch, crews will remove the existing bridge.
 
Negus Way, Redmond
Negus Way is closed between North Canal Boulevard and NE 5th St. 
North Canal Avenue, at Negus Way, will be reduced to one lane starting Monday, November 21, while crews work on the water line. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers.  Expect minimal delays.
 
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes around the closure area, including the usage of the newly completed NE 9th Street extension location between Negus Avenue and Hemlock Avenue. Patrons of Xtreme Fitness will use the newly completed NE 2nd Street bridge to reach the business.
 
GILLIAM COUNTY
OR 19, MP 15 – MP 17

JEFFERSON COUNTY
US 97 (The Dalles – California Highway), MP 92 and US 26 (Warm Springs Highway), MP 116
, Madras
 
The new signal at the reconfigured intersection of US 97 and US 20 has been turned on. Motorists need to be aware of traffic changes in the area.
 
Work in the area includes cleanup of the construction area, irrigation, placing topsoil, and median work. Expect intermittent minor delays of less than 10 minutes.
 
The US 97/US 26 Willow Creek Bridge - Depot Road Project will reconfigure and signalize the intersection of US 97 and US 26 near the north city limits of Madras. This project provides safety and enhancement improvements in the City of Madras on US 26 / US 97 from the existing Willow Creek Bridges (MP 92.12) to the intersection of N.E. Plum Street (MP 91.84) and pavement improvements on U.S. 26 between N.E. Plum Street and N.E. Depot Street (MP 116.80).
 
US 26 (Warm Springs Highway), MP 116.36 – 116.80, West of Madras
Wildish Standard Paving Company is working to replace the existing, three lane Burlington Northern Santa Fe Rail Road Bridge, west of Madras, with a new, wider, three-lane Bridge. Traffic has been switched to a temporary bridge structure. Motorists will remain on the detour during the construction period as crews work to build the new structure.
 
Crews are preparing for the final bridge deck pour, scheduled for the week of Nov. 21.  The surface is scheduled to be paved during the week of Dec. 12, weather permitting.  Motorists will be switched to the new structure once paving work is complete.
 
Construction activities will take place in the area Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. with intermittent night and weekend work possible. Motorists can expect delays of less than 15 minutes when traveling through this work zone. This project is expected to be complete in late 2005.  
 
KLAMATH COUNTY
Tingley Lane (Midland Highway), MP 1.34
, Klamath Falls
The Tingley Lane Bridge over the Lost River diversion canal is closed to traffic.  During this four-month closure, the contractor for the Oregon Department of Transportation will replace the current aging, wood structure with a concrete bridge.
 
The bridge was closed in summer 2004 after damage was discovered in the bridge deck. It was opened later that year, but restricted to one lane, with a stop sign at each end. The new structure will be a two-span concrete slap bridge, 36 feet wide and 125 feet long. It will be able to handle modern-day loads and truck traffic.
 
Signs are in place to alert travelers the closure and suggest possible detour routes.
 
OR 66 (Greensprings Highway) MP 43.48-44.08, west of Klamath Falls
Crews are working on the Spencer Bridge over the Klamath River. No delays anticipated.
 
US 97 (Dalles-California Highway), MP 201.64-202.34, North of Chemult
The week of November 21, crews will complete installation of the pedestrian fence and perform seeding operations near the UPRR bridge with no impact on traffic.  Work is weather permitting and will take place 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  This will complete the work at this project site.
 
US 97 (The Dalles-California Highway) MP 241, Spring Creek Hill
No work is currently taking place at this location.
 
US 97 (The Dalles-California Highway) MP 243.9, Spring Creek Bridge
Bridge demolition work is taking place near Collier State Park.  No delays expected.
 
US 97 (The Dalles-California Highway) MP 263.1, Barley Springs Bridge
Clean-up work is being performed in the area. No delays expected.
 
US 97 (The Dalles-California Highway) MP 265.6, Algoma Bridge
Bridge work continues along Klamath Lake, north of Klamath Falls.  Minor delays are possible. Algoma Road is still closed.
 
US 97 (The Dalles – California Highway), MP 274.73, Klamath Falls
Traffic is reduced to one lane through the U.S. 97 California Avenue Bridge (MP 274.7) project.
 Traffic has been switched to the new structure. Crews are performing cleanup work. Intermittent delays possible.
 
California Avenue is currently closed to through traffic between North 1st Street and Conger Avenue to facilitate construction of the new bridge. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes around the area. Additionally, Klamath Basin Transit will reroute bus service around the work area and temporarily remove two bus stops on California Avenue between North 1st Street and Conger Avenue during the road closure.
 
US 97 (Dalles - California Highway), MP 275.8, Klamath Falls
Crews from Hamilton Construction Company are working to replace the US 97 Bridge over Greensprings Drive. The final deck pour is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 22. Expect minor delays. The construction speed of 45 miles per hour is strictly enforced. No delays expected.
 
OR 140 Jct. OR 39/OR 140 Hwy. – Ritter Road, OR 140 (Klamath Falls- Lakeview Highway) MP 5.51 to 25.17
Crews may be in the area performing some work. Work should not affect traffic.
 
OR 140 (Lake of the Woods Highway), MP 50.81 to MP 57.06, at Doak Mountain, West of Klamath Falls
Work has been stopped for the winter. No delays expected.
 
LAKE COUNTY
OR 140 (Warner Highway) MP 17.39 – 18.50, US 395 (Freemont Highway) MP 128.57 – 142.64
Contractor crews are working on a drainage box culvert at mile post 18.2 on OR 140, east of Lakeview. No delays anticipated.
 
This modernization project will realign and reconstruct Highway 140 to eliminate four curves, install safety features and replace the Parsnip Creek Bridge (MP 18.2) with a box culvert on the Warner Highway. Along, US 395, contractor crews will add two to three inches of new pavement on the Freemont Highway, north of Lakeview. This paving project will improve the aging highway surface in the area and includes upgrades to guardrail and constructing new mailbox turnouts. The project is anticipated to be finished in summer 2006.
 
WASCO COUNTY

This project is complete.
 
US 197 (The Dalles-California Highway), MP 0.0 - 0.5, Between Oregon and Washington states
Contractor crews working for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) are working to replace the bridge deck surface on the US 197 The Dalles Bridge.
 
Crews will work from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays to Thursdays and midnight to 3 p.m. on Fridays, through early December. All lanes of traffic will be open Wednesday, Nov. 23 to Sunday, Nov. 27. Work is weather-dependent.
 
Traffic will be reduced to one lane across the bridge and controlled by flaggers during these working hours. Delays of less than 10 minutes are anticipated.
