For morei nformation contact Julianne Repman (541) 388-6224
Contractor crews will begin the construction of temporary highway lanes to facilitate replacement of the Drainage Ditch Culvert Bridge with a box culvert on Wednesday, December 8. Crews expect to switch traffic to the newly constructed, temporary lanes in late December.
Work will take place in the area Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. with intermittent night and weekend work possible. Motorists can expect delays of less than 5 minutes when traveling through this work zone.
Crews are working to replace the existing timber bridge, spanning a section of Klamath Irrigation District canal, with a concrete box culvert. This bridge is located near the community of Malin on Oregon Highway 39 at milepost 1.46.
This bridge replacement project will occur in two stages. During the first stage crews will construct a temporary roadway adjacent to the existing roadway. Once complete, traffic will be shifted to the new roadway to facilitate culvert installation work.
During the second stage crews will remove the existing bridge and replace it with a box culvert. Once the new culvert is in place traffic will shift to the original highway alignment and the temporary roadway will be removed.
The existing timber structure spans Drainage Ditch No. 9 operated by the Klamath Irrigation District (KID). The structure is approximately 38 feet in width and 138 feet long and built in the early 1930’s.
