Central Oregon Road Construction
UPDATE: Week of June 26
The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is continuing to invest in Oregon’s future with roadway improvement projects throughout Oregon’s central region (ODOT Region 4). ODOT is committed to providing safe, efficient transportations systems. The following projects reflect ODOT’s commitment to make improvements as traffic numbers rise and to make the roadways safer and more efficient for drivers:

CROOK COUNTY
OR 126 (Ochoco Highway), MP 17.9, Prineville
Traffic has been switched to the construction configuration. Crews are excavating and preparing for bridge construction. Minimal traffic delays possible.
The speed limit is 35 miles-per-hour through the work zone and is strictly enforced. Fines double in work zones.

DESCHUTES COUNTY
OR 126 (McKenzie Highway), MP 111, Redmond
Highland Avenue is one way eastbound and Glacier Avenue is one way westbound. Ninth Street is one way northbound and 11th Street is one way southbound, between Highland and Forest avenues.
Expect a lane closure on westbound Highland Avenue, between 17th Street and Rimrock Way, through Monday.
Ninth Street/Veterans Way is now one-way northbound from Indian to Forest avenues. Crews continue earthwork on Veterans Way, between Indian and Highland Avenue. Traffic is traveling on the west side of the road. Traffic has been switch and is traveling on the east side of the road.
Traffic has been shifted to the north side of Highland Avenue, and crews are working to reconstruct the south side. Expect intermittent, minor delays through the work area. Flaggers may be controlling motorist movements.

US 20 (McKenzie-Bend Highway), Sisters
The City of Sisters will be chip-sealing side streets in the downtown area starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday, June 27. Motorists should expect delays and congestion on Cascade Avenue (US 20).
US 97 (The Dalles – California Highway), MP 113.9, north of Terrebonne
Final cleanup and demobilization efforts will continue through Friday, July 21 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with no impact on traffic. This will complete work at this site.
This bridge is located about one mile north of Terrebonne on US 97 at milepost 113.9. During the first phase of construction, crews will construct a new, two-lane bridge with 10-foot shoulders to the west of the existing bridge.
Negus Way, Redmond
Bridge work continues at Negus Way, from North Canal Boulevard to the east side of the railroad tracks. Crews are constructing retaining walls and bridge supports. No delays expected, but motorists are asked to be cautious of trucks and equipment in the area.
Negus Way is closed between North Canal Boulevard and NE 5th St.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes around the closure area, including the usage of the newly completed NE Ninth Street extension location between Negus Avenue and Hemlock Avenue.
US 97 (The Dalles – California Highway), MP 152-154, at South Century Drive, near Sunriver
Crews will continue earthwork activities and forming the bridge footings. No delays expected. The speed through the work zone is 45 miles-per-hour and strictly enforced.
A full diamond interchange will be built to improve safety and operations at the existing intersection and to accommodate an increase in projected traffic. The interchange will consist of two-lane bridges for both north- and southbound traffic on US 97. South Century Drive will go under the two bridges, which are separated by a 120-foot vegetative median.

JEFFERSON COUNTY
US 26 (Warm Springs Highway), MP 116.36 – 116.80, West of Madras
Final cleanup and demobilization efforts will continue through Friday, July 21 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with no impact on traffic. This will complete work at this site.
Wildish Standard Paving Company is working to replace the existing, three lane Burlington Northern Santa Fe Rail Road Bridge, west of Madras, with a new, wider, three-lane Bridge.
KLAMATH COUNTY
Tingley Lane (Midland Highway), MP 1.34, Klamath Falls
Cleanup and sign installation work continues at the Tingley Lane Bridge over the Lost River diversion canal. Traffic may be controlled by flaggers. Intermittent, minor delays possible.
The contractor for the Oregon Department of Transportation will replace the current aging, wood structure with a concrete bridge. The bridge was closed in summer 2004 after damage was discovered in the bridge deck. It was opened later that year, but restricted to one lane, with a stop sign at each end. The new structure will be a two-span concrete slap bridge, 36 feet wide and 125 feet long. It will be able to handle modern-day loads and truck traffic.
OR 66 (Greensprings Highway) MP 43.48-44.08, west of Klamath Falls
Crews are working on the Spencer Bridge over the Klamath River. No delays anticipated. T rucks may be entering roadway.
US 97 (The Dalles-California Highway) MP 241, Spring Creek Hill
Crews are excavating. Traffic regulated by flaggers. Expect delays.

US 97 (The Dalles-California Highway) MP 263.1, Barkley Springs Bridge

US 97 (The Dalles-California Highway) MP 265.6, Algoma Bridge
Crews are grading and paving at bridge approach. Expect minor delays. Traffic regulated by flaggers at times
US 97 (The Dalles-California Highway) MP 275.3, Klamath Falls
The northbound Main Street exit on US 97 will be closed from 6 a.m. Monday, June 26 to noon Wednesday, June 28 while crews work to resurface the bridge deck. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes to the Klamath Falls city center.
OR 39 (Klamath Falls-Malin Highway) at OR 140 (South Klamath Falls Highway) MP 1.58-2.04, Klamath Falls
Crews are paving and installing signs, and doing shoulder and cleanup work at the intersection. Night work may take place. Traffic is controlled by flaggers. Expect minor delays.
OR 140 (Lake of the Woods Highway), MP 50.81 to MP 57.06, at Doak Mountain, west of Klamath Falls
Crews are paving. Expect delays.

OR 140 (Lake of the Woods Highway), MP 58.8 to 59.8, west of Klamath Falls
Two lanes of traffic are now open west of Klamath Falls after the highway flooded after a dike broke on June 7. Speed has been reduced to 40 miles-per-hour to ensure motorist safety through this narrow section of roadway. Motorists are advised to slow down and be aware of crews continuing to work in the area.
ODOT crews will continue to monitor the situation and may need to do additional paving in the area this week to offset rising water which may flood sections of highway. Additionally, ODOT crews will be in the area collecting core samples of the material sources located below the flooded roadway. This information will assist in determining what the permanent fix will be for the damaged roadway.
The roadway was reduced to one lane on June 7 after a nearby dike broke, flooding the highway and thousands of acres to the north of the roadway.
LAKE COUNTY
OR 31 (Fremont Highway) MP 46.6-46.9, one mile west of Silver Lake
Crews are working to replace the narrow, wood bridge with a new concrete structure.
Crews are continuing to install a temporary signal. Expect a single lane closure, controlled with flaggers, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday. Expect between five and 10-minute delays.
OR 140 (Warner Highway) MP 17.39 – 18.50, US 395 (Freemont Highway) MP 128.57 – 142.64
Crews are beginning work again on OR 140 from mile pint 17.39 to 18.50. Contractor crews will be performing construction surveying and general site excavation and embankment work. Crews are working on building the temporary detour structure. Flaggers and pilot cars may be utilized to control traffic through sections of the project. Expect minor delays.
This modernization project will realign and reconstruct Highway 140 to eliminate four curves, install safety features and replace the Parsnip Creek Bridge (MP 18.2) with a box culvert on the Warner Highway. Along, US 395, contractor crews will add two to three inches of new pavement on the Freemont Highway, north of Lakeview. This paving project will improve the aging highway surface in the area and includes upgrades to guardrail and constructing new mailbox turnouts. The project is anticipated to be finished in summer 2006.
