UPDATE: Week of August 21
The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is continuing to invest in Oregon’s future with roadway improvement projects throughout Oregon’s central region (ODOT Region 4). ODOT is committed to providing safe, efficient transportations systems. The following projects reflect ODOT’s commitment to make improvements as traffic numbers rise and to make the roadways safer and more efficient for drivers:
ALL WORK IS DEPENDENT UPON WEATHER
The striping crew will be working in Deschutes and Crook counties between Aug. 21-24. Expect a lane closure Monday on US 20 in the Tumalo and Sisters area. On Tuesday and Thursday, the crew will work on US 26 and OR 126 near Prineville. On Thursday, work will take place on US 20 near Tumalo.
Motorists are asked to slow down and be cautious near this mobile operation.
CROOK COUNTY
OR 126 (Ochoco Highway), MP 17.9, Prineville
Traffic has been switched to the construction configuration. Crews are working on the bridge deck. Contractor will be placing backfill at each of the bridge. Minimal traffic delays possible.
The speed limit is 35 miles-per-hour through the work zone and is strictly enforced. Fines double in work zones.

DESCHUTES COUNTY
OR 126 (McKenzie Highway), MP 111, Redmond
Road work continues in the area of Glacier and Highland Avenues in Redmond.
Highland Avenue is one way eastbound and Glacier Avenue is one way westbound. Ninth Street is one way northbound and 11th Street is one way southbound, between Highland and Forest avenues.
Night paving will take place on Sunday on Highland and Glacier avenues in the sections between Fifth and Sixth streets. Expect minor delays. During the rest of the week, crews will work to install pavers and sidewalks on the north sides. Once complete, traffic will be switched to allow crews to construct the south side.
Crews will work during the week days to install signal loops at Ninth 13th and 15th streets on Highland Avenue. Expect minimal delays.
Beginning in early September, Fifth and Sixth streets (US 97) will be closed for three nights each to allow crews to construct the intersections of Highland and Glacier Avenues. Expect detour routes at night.
Ninth Street/Veterans Way is now one-way northbound from Indian to Forest avenues. Crews continue earthwork on Veterans Way, between Indian and Highland Avenue.

US 97 at Veteran’s Way, Redmond
The signal timing at US 97 and Veteran’s Way will be changed, starting Monday, to facilitate a private developers’ work in the area. Expect congestion.
Negus Way, Redmond
Bridge work continues at Negus Way, from North Canal Boulevard to the east side of the railroad tracks.
The intersection of Negus Way and NE Fifth Street will be closed from Sept. 5-8. No delays expected. Find alternate routes through the area.
US 97 (The Dalles – California Highway), MP 152-154, at South Century Drive, near US 97 (The Dalles - California Highway), MP 152-154, at South Century Drive, near Sunriver
Crews will continue earthwork activities and work on bridge bents and wing walls. No delays expected. The speed through the work zone is 45 miles-per-hour and strictly enforced.
Expect increase in truck traffic within project limits and to the south on Highway 97.
The northbound passing lane south of the S. Century Drive intersection has been temporarily reduced to one lane. The highway has been reduced to one lane in each direction to facilitate construction of the interchange project.
A lane is closed on S. Century Drive near the US 97 interchange. The westbound traffic lane is closed and traffic has been shifted south on the road. Traffic is traveling in one westbound lane and one eastbound lane. No delays expected
A full diamond interchange will be built to improve safety and operations at the existing intersection and to accommodate an increase in projected traffic. The interchange will consist of two-lane bridges for both north- and southbound traffic on US 97. South Century Drive will go under the two bridges, which are separated by a 120-foot vegetative median.

JEFFERSON COUNTY
US 26 (Warm Springs Highway), MP 85.3-99.1, near Warm Springs
Crews are placing permanent striping and shoulder aggregate. Expect lane closures between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday night. Expect delays up to 16 minutes.
This project will resurface US 26 near Warm Springs.
KLAMATH COUNTY
Tingley Lane (Midland Highway), MP 1.34, Klamath Falls
Cleanup and sign and delineator installation work continues at the Tingley Lane Bridge over the Lost River diversion canal. Traffic may be controlled by flaggers. Intermittent, minor delays possible.
The contractor for the Oregon Department of Transportation will replace the current aging, wood structure with a concrete bridge.
The bridge was closed in summer 2004 after damage was discovered in the bridge deck. It was opened later that year, but restricted to one lane, with a stop sign at each end. The new structure will be a two-span concrete slap bridge, 36 feet wide and 125 feet long. It will be able to handle modern-day loads and truck traffic.
OR 66 (Greensprings Highway) MP 43.48-44.08, west of Klamath Falls
Crews are working on the Spencer Bridge over the Klamath River. Expect single lane traffic from Aug. 24-28. Expect minor delays with 24-hour flagging. Expect minor delays.
Trucks may be entering roadway.
US 97 (The Dalles-California Highway) MP 241, Spring Creek Hill
Crews are excavating and blasting rock. Traffic regulated by flaggers. No delays between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

OR 140 (Lake of the Woods Highway), MP 50.81 to MP 57.06, at Doak Mountain, west of Klamath Falls
Crews are excavating and putting down base rock. Traffic controlled by flaggers. Expect delays.

OR 140 (Lake of the Woods Highway), MP 58.8 to 59.8, west of Klamath Falls
Work continues to repair a one-mile section of water-damaged OR 140, west of Klamath Falls. Crews for Hap Taylor and Sons will be placing fill material. Flaggers and a pilot car will control motorist movements 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week to ensure traffic safety. Expect up to 20-minute delays. Speed has been reduced to 40 mph in the construction zone.
The work will include raising the highway by 3 ½ feet, with stone embankment, aggregate base, asphalt concrete pavement. New guardrail and concrete barriers will also be installed as part of the project.
The highway closed in June after floodwaters from Klamath Lake submerged portions of the roadway and thousands of acres to the north after the failure of Geary Levy. The road was reopened after ODOT made temporary emergency repairs. The closure and subsequent emergency repairs were necessary to ensure motorist safety and continued mobility through the area.
OR 140 (Klamath Falls-Lakeview Highway) MP 41-53, between Beatty and Bly
Maintenance crews will work on culverts on OR 140 between Beatty and Bly. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays through August. Expect lane closures and up to 10-minute delays.
OR 140 (Klamath Falls-Lakeview Highway) MP 66.73-73.81, west of Lakeview
A geology crew will be drilling for soil and rock samples for the Drews Creek Fish Passage project. Work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22 to Thursday, Aug. 24. Expect a lane closure with motorist movements controlled by flaggers. Expect less than five-minute delays.
LAKE COUNTY
OR 31 (Fremont Highway) MP 46.6-46.9, one mile west of Silver Lake
Crews are working to replace the narrow, wood bridge with a new concrete structure.
Earthwork activities will take place behind the concrete barrier, with no impact to traffic.
A temporary traffic signal has been installed at the east and west ends of the project. It controls motorist movements over the one-lane bridge. Speed through the construction zone has been reduced to 45 miles-per-hour.
OR 140 (Warner Highway) MP 17.39 – 18.50, US 395 (Freemont Highway) MP 128.57 – 142.64
Crews are working in the area. Expect minor delays.
This modernization project will realign and reconstruct Highway 140 to eliminate four curves, install safety features and replace the Parsnip Creek Bridge (MP 18.2) with a box culvert on the Warner Highway. Along, US 395, contractor crews will add two to three inches of new pavement on the Freemont Highway, north of Lakeview. This paving project will improve the aging highway surface in the area and includes upgrades to guardrail and constructing new mailbox turnouts. The project is anticipated to be finished in summer 2006.
