US 97: BNSF Terrebonne Bridge
BNSF Terrebonne Bridge
BNSF Terrebonne Bridge
Project Budget:
$2,895,000

Proposed Project Schedule:
Construction began January 2005,
Construction complete Spring 2006

Project Location:
US 97 (The Dalles California Highway), MP 113.57-114.25, two miles north of Terrebonne in Deschutes County.

Project Description:
Contractor crews are working to build a new bridge over the BNSF railroad, north of Terrebonne. The new longer, wider bridge will be built on the west side of the old bridge. The highway has been realigned to accommodate the new bridge structure.

This project is part of Stage 1 of Oregon’s OTIA III State Bridge Delivery Program.

The Oregon Department of Transportation is replacing aging bridges on US 97 and US 26 between Klamath Falls and Portland to provide an alternative truck route in preparation for major bridge work on Interstate 5 during Stage 2.

The existing bridge structure and roadway has exceeded its useful life and must be replaced before economy-crippling truck weight limits are required.

Funding:
OTIA
