| I-84:Stanton Blvd. Snake River |

Updated: March 20, 2007
Project location
The project includes four bridges on Interstate 84 in the Ontario area. Three bridges will be repaired and one will be replaced.
Purpose and need
Bridge engineering inspections determined that the following improvements are needed to keep traffic and commerce flowing freely on I-84 between Oregon and Idaho:
- Repair the Stanton Boulevard bridge over I-84.
- Replace the I-84 eastbound bridge over Doman Road/Oak Road.
- Repair the I-84 eastbound and westbound bridges over the Snake River by replacing the bridge end spans.

Overview of construction activity
- Stanton Boulevard over I-84: make repairs underneath and on top of the existing bridge.
- I-84 eastbound over Doman Road/Oak Road: replace the bridge in the same location.
- I-84 eastbound and westbound over the Snake River: replace the bridge end spans and railings; re-pave the westbound bridge deck and add a seal coat to the eastbound bridge deck.
Construction impacts
- Stanton Boulevard over I-84: maintain one-lane traffic on the existing bridge during repair work. Occasional bridge closures may be needed, requiring a local detour route.
- I-84 eastbound over Doman Road/Oak Road: maintain one-lane freeway traffic during construction. No truck width restrictions are anticipated. The new overpass bridge will be built one-half at a time.
- I-84 eastbound and westbound over the Snake River: two-way traffic, with one lane in each direction, will use one of the existing bridges during construction of the adjacent bridge. Oversize truck loads will be detoured around the construction work using U.S. 95 and U.S. 30 through Gayway Junction.
- All work will happen in the existing highway right of way.
