Highway 26 Trucking Restrictions Change
Following standard testing protocols, ODOT has announced revisions to restrictions regarding truck transport on US Highway 26 between Mitchell and Dayville, Oregon, including the section through Picture Gorge.

Effective immediately, this reclassification upgrades this section of US 26 allowing unlimited access for truck tractor/semi trailer combinations operating with up to a 53’ trailer.

ODOT has gone through a rigorous process of evaluating the length restriction.  A test run was conducted during the summer of 2006.  After reviewing results of the test, including both direct observation in the field as well as further analysis of a video recording of the actual test run, the Motor Carrier Transportation Division of the Oregon Department of Transportation has concluded that extending the permissible length of semi-trailers from 48 to 53 feet is reasonable.
